VICTORY IN EUROPE (VE DAY) 80TH ANNIVERSARY
WESTON-SUB-EDGE WILL BE MARKING THIS IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY – JOIN IN THE CELEBRATIONS!
EVENTS PLANNED SO FAR:
- THE LYCHGATE WAR MEMORIAL WILL BE DECORATED SATURDAY 3RD / 4TH MAY
- THURSDAY 8TH MAY AT 6:30PM AT THE RECREATION GROUND OPPOSITE THE CHURCH
Everyone is invited to watch an oak tree being planted, with a commemorative plaque, to help us all remember the sacrifice of all those who died in World War II.
- FRIDAY 9TH MAY EVENING (TIMING TO BE DECIDED) AT THE VILLAGE HALL
- Everyone in the village is welcome with their children to share stories and memorabilia of the time.
There will be:
- Wartime music
- World War II memorabilia
- Information about World War II and what it meant to live through those times
- Activities for children
- To be arranged eats and drinks
Perhaps you have some war time items, or photographs, you would like to bring along, perhaps write up the story of a relative who was in the war? We’d like to bring alive what it was like to live during the war and the stories of those who fought and died. We would like to use the opportunity to help the children of the village understand what it was like.
